Government to Introduce New Cybersecurity Rules for Connected Vehicles

As vehicles become increasingly connected through software and internet-enabled technologies, the Government of India is preparing new cybersecurity regulations for modern automobiles. The proposed framework will require manufacturers to strengthen software security and improve software update management for connected vehicles.

The initiative aims to reduce cyber risks associated with connected vehicles while improving consumer safety. Experts believe stronger cybersecurity standards will become increasingly important as advanced driver-assistance systems, connected infotainment platforms, and over-the-air software updates become more common.

Consumers purchasing modern vehicles may benefit from improved digital security, timely software updates, and better protection against emerging cyber threats.
